Sorry, You Didn’t Make The Weigh-in

Tuesday, January 26th, 2010

What do you think about Whole Food Market increasing the employee discount from 20% to up to 30% for those employees who meet the company’s health ideals and allow the company to track their information?

I saw this story on our local television news station, but it seems that www.jezebel.com has more details, including copies of information distributed to employees of Whole Food Markets describing the plan.

It appears that it’s not mandatory for the employees to participate in this program.  But when a company sets up a system that rewards not for a job well done, but for personal health and habits, it makes you think.

So, what do you think?  Is this just a way for employers to dictate what you can do in your private life under the guise of a reward?

Passing Time

I’ve spent hours searching the Food/Cooking category and didn’t realize it until my eyes started to burn from staring at the screen too long.

Just a Quick Hello

Friday, January 15th, 2010

Sorry for the lack of entries.  Between the freezing weather and trying to figure out what’s working in my life and what’s not, I’ve been pretty busy.

Soon it will be time to start planting for the garden and I’m nowhere near ready.  Once I’m back to almost organized, I should be able to post more regularly.  In the meantime, thanks for putting up with me.

Christmas Tree

Our sad, leaning tree

Our sad, leaning tree

Christmas seemed to come and go pretty quickly this year.  We had the tree down and outside on the deck before ringing in the New Year.  Usually, we put it in the back of the Jeep and we bring it to a tree drop-off area.  This year, we had so much snow, that it’s still sitting on our deck.  Since it’s my vehicle that will carry the tree, I’m hoping to be able to wait for it to become a bit drier before moving it.

Waiting for a thaw

Fortunately, the wait gave me time to find this little guy still hanging onto one of the branches.  I noticed him while I was outside playing with the dog.    It makes me wonder how many ornaments never make it to next Christmas.

Looks like he's still trying to warm up
